Educational Support for At Risk Youth
One of the primary ways in which we support children academically is through our YOU-THink after-school program. The program has three elements: tutoring, study skills development and counseling.
Through homework help and remedial support, we help children stay on course during the school year and retain previously learned material. The outcome will lead to academic competency, especially in math and reading.
To help develop study skills, the children learn how to stay organized, manage their time while improving their focus, comprehension and retention.
One-on-one and family counseling, along with school advocacy, provides the students help in fulfilling their personal needs and overcoming their specific difficulties. This, in turn, increases their self-confidence and generates more positive attitudes towards themselves, family, school and community.
