Eligibility for Supportive Services and Community Outreach for Families
Free Grocery Distribution
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be homeless or low-income;
- Live in ward 6 OR within the 20001 zip code;
- Call in advance to register (202-347-0511); and,
- Bring ID, Social Security Card, proof of residency, and/or birth certificate of each member of the family once registered.

Clothing Distribution
- No eligibility requirements
- No appointment necessary
- Hours for women: 10 am-12N Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
- Hours for men: 10 am - 1 pm Friday

Identification and Birth Certificates
Only clients referred from CFLS' Housing Services or already registered with Supportive Services & Community Outreach Departments are eligible for assistance in obtaining ID's and birth certificates.

Rent, Mortgage, and Utilities Assistance
To qualify, applicants must:
- Live in Wards 6 or 8;
- Be the primary resident of the location for which the bill is being paid;
- Provide proof of emergency (court summons, eviction notice, delinquency letter from landlord or mortgage company, foreclosure notice, utility shut off notice); OR
- Show that payment will cover first month's rent for family or individual moving from a shelter or transitional housing into long-term or permanent housing;
- Provide verification for reason of delinquency (loss of benefits, medical emergency, other);
- Provide written verification that the assistance will bring delinquency current; and,
- Provide written verification that client will be able to meet all future rent/mortgage/utility obligations.
