Empowering Our Youth

In addition to the formal tutoring programs, middle- and high-school children in CFLS' programs participate in our individual enrichment program that focuses on character building and global citizenship.

Through seminars and workshops on HIV/AIDs awareness, substance abuse and gang violence prevention, civic and community service, youth improve their ability to make intelligent life choices, build their self-esteem and deepen their sensitivity to the needs of others.

To help them better understand their place in a global world and develop a greater appreciation for other cultures, they participate in cultural exchanges, roundtables and study groups.

We take the children on field trips to a variety of cultural, historical and educational places of interests, including museums and performances. We take advantage of the many free opportunities in the city, along with complimentary tickets to events around the area.  (If you are interested in donating tickets to an event, please click here to find out more.)
