Sponsor a Drive

Use your creative talents to design a flashy flier, reach out to friends, neighbors, colleagues and help our residents get organized. In new apartments with little furniture, they need large plastic storage containers to establish a good ordering system for the family. Collect the containers, or collect gift certificates to large discount stores and we'll go shopping with the big van and do the leg work! You'll know your contribution is going directly to a family who is moving forward.

Hot Meals for the Homeless

Prepare and serve breakfast for the homeless on the 3rd Saturday of each winter month.  This is a program suitable for groups of 5 to 10.  Groups are asked to sponsor the meal cost ($250).

All of our dates are booked for winter 2006-2007, but you can call for info on next year's program.

Get a team together for the Walkathon

The 2006 Fannie Mae Foundation Help the Homeless Walkathon will take place on Saturday, November 18.  Bring a team down to the National Mall for a good walk with friends, co-workers, and the Washington community.  Every step you take leads us a step closer to the end of homelessness in the nation's capital.

Service Learning

At CFLS, we value service-learning and reflection. We have several opportunities for youth groups to get involved. Your group can prepare an apartment for a family to move into a new home, provide some sweat and muscle to beautify the yard or brighten up the hallways. Every little bit helps to create a great atmosphere for our clients who are moving to break the cycles of poverty each day.  If you are a representative of a youth group, please feel free to contact our volunteer services office to find out how you can help.
