Housing Services
CFLS believes in helping people help themselves. This includes helping people move into a CFLS housing program that fits individual needs (and the needs of one's family) and responding to the needs that brought them to CFLS in the first place. When clients are prepared to move from CFLS housing to independent living, we equip each head-of-household with the tools necessary to live in their own apartment or home. For clients who live in our transitional housing, our ultimate goal is to fully prepare them to survive, and thrive, independently of our services.
Community Family Life Services currently operates one permanent and four transitional housing sites at various locations throughout the District of Columbia. In addition, we offer a variety of special housing support services. Each of our housing sites was designed with a specific population in mind. Some are geared towards families who have simply fallen into hard times; other housing units are specifically for families who are reunited after having been separated; others are designed specifically for families that need additional support due to histories of drug use, alcoholism, depression, or HIV/AIDS. In addition, we have units designed specifically for individuals who were formerly homeless or who were formerly incarcerated.
