Sponsor A Miniwalk
Sponsor a mini-walk or invite us to give an educational presentation to your school, church, or community organization. It is important that children be exposed to the myths and facts about homelessness while they are young. Inviting CFLS to help you put on an educational presentation at your school, church, or other community organization will help us help you put a face on the problem of homelessness and give you an idea of what you can do to help fight it.
Mini-walks are also excellent ways of involving your school, church, or community organization in fighting homelessness. A mini-walk consists of at least 15 minutes of physical exercise on your organization's property, followed by an educational presentation lasting at least another 15 minutes. You and the other members of your organization would still register as if you were walking at the main walkathon and you will receive t-shirts for your participation, but you will have the added advantage of learning more about homelessness while you're walking. This is also a great activity for children's Halloween parades.
We do ask that individuals participating in mini-walks pay a registration fee of $15 (child) or $25 (adult). Not only will the Fannie Mae Foundation return this money to CFLS, but the Foundation will match your donation and your enthusiasm with an incentive gift to CFLS so that we can continue providing services in the Washingon area.
To participate in a miniwalk at your school, church, or community organization, please contact our volunteer services department at 202-347-0511, ext. 415 or email volunteer@cflsdc.org.
