Community Family Life Services Speakers Bureau
The CFLS Speakers Bureau is a syndicate of women speaking professionally on their lived experiences. Through the Bureau, CFLS provides a platform for survivors of trauma such as domestic violence, human trafficking, and incarceration to learn public speaking skills, progress in their healing journey, and become agents of change.
Members of the Speakers Bureau communicate their lived experiences to educate lawmakers, service providers, law enforcement, nonprofits, private organizations, and community stakeholders.
Training & Offerings
Members of the CFLS Speakers Bureau have all received 35 hours of professionally administered public speaking and leadership training. During training, each participant also receives professional coaching, mentorship, or therapy designed to further support healing. Speakers Bureau members have continuous access to professional development trainings, support and guidance in preparing for engagements, networking events, and linkages to paid speaking opportunities.
The CFLS Speakers Bureau recruits women involved in the justice system and survivors of trauma who are yearning to tell their stories. By elevating the voices of people directly impacted by the most pressing social issues of our time, and by advocating for fair compensation on their behalf, CFLS is continually opening opportunities for survivors to be heard.
Every January and August, CFLS releases its application for the next cohort of trainees. Upon selection, applicants undergo seven sessions of training to develop public speaking and facilitation skills, and they gain access to coaches and mentors who will support their personal and professional growth. After graduation, each woman officially becomes a Speakers Bureau member eligible for paid speaking engagements.
Members of the CFLS Speakers Bureau are available for hire for panel discussions, trainings, conferences, and other events. To hire a speaker, please contact Miracle Golden Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org.
